Opposition leader arrives ahead of planned protest

Opposition leader Sam Rainsy arrived in Cambodia on Tuesday after a two-week long campaign abroad to seek support for his Cambodia National Rescue Party’s (CNRP) bid to bring foreign intervention to Cambodia’s election dispute. He returned home just a day before his party’s planned three-day protest at Freedom Park. Rainsy left Cambodia on October 7th to campaign in the United States and Europe to seek foreign help, requesting that those countries not recognize the current government of Prime Minister Hun Sen. Speaking to reporters at Phnom Penh International Airport, he said he will lead the protest and march along the streets as planned. …
